I’m not the only one who suffers from this issue, but there really is not enough time in a day. Not when you have to give up several hours to sleep. So I guess I’ve given up sleep. Not intentionally, but the result is the same. Since I’ve had kids, I’ve increasingly had more and more fights with insomnia. It really sucks! I’m really tired and I really want to sleep, but my mind just won’t let me. Too much stress, too many things to do and not enough time.
First Day of School
So I think for most kids and their parents the first day of school is supposed to be exciting and a bitter-sweet experience. It has not been that way for us this year. We started Mason in a new school this year (as apposed to the Mother’s Day Out programs he went to in the past) and this time his first day has been extremely stressful. I have not enjoyed it at all and that’s one of the main reasons it’s currently 4 AM and I’m awake! I’m sure I’ll have more to say on this topic later on, but I am wishing all of you wonderful moms a much better first day experience than I’ve had! Mason’s first day is officially tomorrow so I’m really hoping it goes well for him and that Mommy is the only one stressed out about it.
The Behavior Chart
Traditionally Mason has always been an angel at school. Home is a totally different story. So I wasn’t sure what to expect when we hired a nanny. It could go either way. Well, it went South. Since he is at home and doing the same activities he did while I stayed at home with him, he equates being with the nanny to being with me more than being at school. Things started off pretty good but now he totally acts out with her just like he does with me. So, on advice from a friend, we are trying a “behavior chart”. We listed all the main things Mason needs work on…don’t beat up your baby sister, mind the nanny when she tells you something, don’t throw fits. The next step is to give him daily, weekly and monthly rewards for good behavior and consequences for bad behavior. He did not do well today, so he did not get to play his favorite game tonight. Conversely, if he does well, he gets to play his game and we will take him for a special outing at the end of the week or the end of the month (i.e. Chuck-E-Cheese or some place similar). Hoping it works! I’ll post an update later on and supply the chart I created so you don’t have to do all the work.
