Ballerina Cookies

For my daughter’s first birthday party I chose the theme “Ballerina Ball”.  You can see the whole party located here:

This post is the specific how-to for the Ballerina Tutu Cookies.

First, I drew the design I wanted and cut it out to use for the shape of the cookie.  I just used regular sugar cookie dough and a knife to cut around the shape.  I have attached the design for these cookies below.

Next, I put on the icing (recipe below).

The decorations I used were things I had around the house but it included mini sprinkles which were pink and pink tube decorating icing.

First I used the mini sprinkles to make a necklace on the bodice before the icing dried and hardened.

And lastly, I added some highlights for the skirt after the icing dried.

Sugar Cookie Icing
1 cup powdered sugar
1 tablespoon light corn syrup
2 tablespoons water
food coloring (if desired)
Stir confectioners’ sugar, corn syrup, and water together. Stir in food coloring if desired. Use right away or it starts to harden.  Adjust the recipe as needed with either sugar or water until it is the right consistency you need.
