This is a baby girl room I designed with the theme of Bows and Butterflies.
The furniture is a three piece set with convertible crib, armoire and dresser. Also I painted a nightstand to match the furniture color. The link to the furniture and matching paint color are at the bottom of the post. We added a white chair rail around the room with faux painting on bottom and cream on top. I accented the chair rail with hand-painted bows and ribbons.
I also made a lamp for the room. I saw a gorgeous lamp at Pottery Barn Kids but it was $120 just for the shade! So I made my own.
Since the room is a very soft pink, it is hard to see the details in photos. Here are some closeups of the hand painted bows and the faux painted bottom.
One of my favorite parts of the decor are the tassel tie backs I got from Overstock.com.
A friend also gave me these wonderful letters for my baby shower. She made these herself.
And most importantly, here are some close ups of the crib bedding and accessories I spent a small fortune on from Pish Posh Baby.
Here are close ups of two more details in the room. The nylon butterflies were purchased on Amazon and the photograph of my daughter was done by CNC Moments photography in Dallas, TX. The photo happen to match the decor of the room but it was totally unplanned.
For those interested in reproducing the paint techniques in the room, here is the information you will need:
The base coat is a color match to a fairly common interior color although I’m not entirely sure of the name, I think it was Almond or something similar. Below is a pic of the custom code from Sherman Williams. Paint the entire room in the base coat. The faux coat is painted over the top of the base in very thin circular strokes. In fact, you can’t even really tell the difference, until the paint drys. The faux coat is Valspar Champagne Blush (1008-6B) mixed with Valspar Clear Mixing Glaze. You mix the paints using a 1 to 4 ratio. It does not take much paint. I bought only the sample size of the pink paint. For my fairly regular sized room, I used 1/4 cup of paint to 2 cups of glaze.
The furniture is Munire Savannah Collection in Linen White and can be seen at:
Lone Star Baby and Kids
I painted a side table to match the furniture and the color match to the furniture is Valspar Eddie Bauer Craft White EB25-4 from Lowe’s.
